Bromine water test... bromine water is brown, and can be decolourised by unsaturated hydrocarbons (due to the addition reaction of Br2 across the double or triple carbon-carbon bonds). Saturated hydrocarbons do not react with bromine water in the absence of UV light, and so the brown colour persists.
