Haider Ali was a brave 'freedom fighter' of the 'Bangladesh War' of Independence. The Bangladesh government awarded him the 'Bir Bikram' title for his 'bravery in the war of 'independence'.

• In the middle of August 1971, in a tea garden in Teliapara, Sylhet, the tired freedom fighters, including Hyder Ali, were sleeping inside the quiet tea garden late at night. A few comrades were on alert. At that time, the silence of the night was broken by the sound of gunshots. Freedom fighters wake up. He learned that the Pakistani army had attacked their camp from the rear. Although they were somewhat taken aback by the sudden attack, they had no time to think about it. He quickly took a position as best he could and started firing at the resistance of the Pakistani troops. Immediately, a fierce battle began. Hyder Ali and his comrades fought bravely but failed. Within an hour, their camp was captured by Pakistani troops. About 16 of his comrades were martyred. A fellow soldier named Mubarak Ali was martyred in front of his eyes. The captain ordered them to retreat to avoid heavy casualties. At that time, Pakistani troops were shelling their positions like rain. They were retreating behind covering fire. Some crawl, and some run with their heads down. Comrade Mubarak Ali was running when a bullet landed on his back.
• After gathering at a safe place, the captain asked them to capture the camp at any cost. The next day, Hyder Ali again gathered strength and attacked the Pakistani army. At four o'clock in the morning, when they bombed the Pakistani army, a fierce battle began. Pakistani troops also continued to resist fiercely. A machine gun post of Pakistani soldiers was on a hill. They were shooting like rain from there. Because of this, the freedom fighters could not move forward. Then Hyder Ali abandoned the fear of death and crawled through the mountain stream alone. Avoiding the eyes of the Pakistani soldiers, he charged two grenades at that machine gun post. The firing stopped immediately after the explosion. Only the sound of moans could be heard. Later the sound of those cries was no longer heard. Then Hyder Ali crawled closer and saw four Pakistani soldiers lying injured. He kills them with SMG brushfire. After the machine gun post was destroyed, the Pakistani troops fled from there.
