by right hand thumb rule which state that:: Imagine you are grasping a current carrying conducter such that your thumb will be in the direction of current ,then the direction in which your fingers is unfolded will show the magnetic field

the direction of magnetic field due to straight wire is calculated with the help of maxwell's Right Hand Thumb Rule ..
according to this rule if we hold the current carrying wire in the right-hand such that the thumb points in the direction of current then the direction in which the curled fingers points is the direction of magnetic lines of Forces
for example if the current in the conductor flows in upward direction then the direction of magnetic field in anticlockwise direction on the other hand if the current in the conductor flows in the downward direction then the direction of magnetic field around the conductor is in clockwise direction
