Because when two mole of hydrogen react with oxygen To form water 2h2o. So hidrogen has two mole which is double

Overall equation for electrolysis of water can be written as :-
H2O - - - - - - > H2 + O2
Now after balancing the equation we will get :
2H2O - - - - - - - > 2H2 + O2
From this we can conclude that when two mole of water is electrolysed (dissociated), two mole of hydrogen gas and one mole of oxygen gas is produced.
