How can we find the stock notation of a compound?(eg. HAuCl2, Tl2O)

In HAuCl2: the stock notation is HAu(I)Cl2, as Au has varying valency the oxidation state in the compound is +1
In Ti2O: the stock notation is Tl2(I)O, Tl is a oxide and has oxidation state of +1
