How can we find valency plz tell the information.

for example we r going to find the valency of magnesium .ok.
so ,atomic no. of mg is 12 and its configration is 2,8,2.
yes so it needs to give 2 electron see my friend 2+8=10.
thats why i m saying this and as we know that every atom want itself to be stable so it will give 2 and it valency become 2+.and u know why positive ok let me give u a trick if it give than it is doing a good work so positive and if it is snatching or taking than doing bad work than negative.

we can find the valency of any element by electronic configuration.after it we see the number of electron and we know that every element need 8 or 2 or a stable state . the number of electron which will cover the value of 8 or other stable that will be valency of that element.
