  • Cocoons are collected and kept under the sun, or boiled, or exposed to steam. This helps in separating out the silk fibres.

Answer:

Hi dear...

Explanation:

We can get silk threads from cocoon of the silk moths in the following process :-

1) The cocoons are harvested within 10 days of the pupal stage, before the pupa emerges from the cocoon. Cocoons from which moths have emerged are not used for the production of silk threads; such cocoons are considered damaged.

2) Cocoons are hand picked and put into boiling water. Boiling kills the pupa within the cocoon and loosens the silk fibre so that it can be easily uncoiled. These fibres are then processed and spun into silk threads. Each silk fibre obtained from a cocoon forms a filament. Fifty such filaments are woven together to form a single thread. The silk threads are further woven into different types of silk garments.
