How can we know when to calculate LCM and when to calculate HCF

when it asks about factor you have to calculate HCf and when it asks about multiple we calculate lcm

LCM stands for "Lowest Common Multiple" and HCF stands for "Highest Common Factor"......... Generally in questions it is mentioned what to take out but if not then look for the words multiple or factor..... Multiples is for LCM and factors is for HCF.
