How to make social studies (especially history) interesting??

The best way to teach or learn history/social studies is by stepping into the shoes of those you are trying to study or into the situation you are trying to learn. This can be done by simulation of events, say in classroom or with friends, role playing and dramatization. Coming up with games is another fun way of learning anything. 
Vivid imagery can also be brought about by use of cartoon or videos on the topic you are learning. Field trips to historical sights help to cement what is learn in class as well.
