Superstition is a behaviour or faith based on apprehension of the untold and confidence in occult.

  • It is a conviction that various circumstances bring good or bad fortune. These can be removed from society as -
  1. Thinking positive - A person should keep a positive approach towards events. This can be achieved through reading, listening and  watching positive material.
  2. Guidance - Through personal counseling and real-life examples, parents and peers play a crucial role in eradicating all phobias and beliefs in superstitions.
  3. Campaign - With different events and initiatives, the government and other organizations can educate the confused minds, which may be powerful instruments in dispelling misconceptions.
  4. Social Media - Various forms of responsible media can help to influence people's minds about these views to a considerable extent.

Answer:

You cannot remove superstitious beliefs because what for you is a superstition, for others is something they have witnessed and can vouch for true. For some reason, those who have never witnessed a supernatural event assume those must be false and rationalize them into hallucinations and mental illnesses, this joined to the fact that psychiatry has a lot to prove these days as per Thomas Szaszs delliberations puts us in a funny situation where some people have a wrong belief about mental illness to counter the alleged wrong beliefs of others in events they actually witnessed.

In my country the police filed reports of supernatural events in a house after a girl played with a ouija board, this however hasn’t changed society’s views on the matter and it is considered still hallucinations and inventions.
