ur question is that how can we say that food is based in carbon

see, let us take us the Example of simple crystals of sugar (normal sugar).

experiment -

take a pan and put a spoon or two of sugar. and let it be heat

observation - first the crystals will change into liquid then caremal then to a black substance. the black substance left begind is carbon
