In 1999 Musharaf imposed Martial law in Pakistan and all power was in Musharaf hands, he had too much pressure from religious groups and other political parties to announce the date of elections, although he was not interested but he had to announce the elections in 2002 and introduced a party with the name of Pakistan muslim league (Q). It was like a forward block of Nawaz Shareef’s party, Mian Azhar played a key role in formation of new party with the help of Musharaf and in elections Peoples Party got maximum majority and PML (Q) was second largest party and PML (N) got only 16 seats in National Assembly. Lot of members of National assembly started moving towards Q leagues. According to the some people, establishment forced them to move, so PML Q successfully made their govt in federal and other provinces aswell. But the main thing about this is, whole matters were controlled by Musharaf and took all power in his hand and he became President of Pakistan through constitutional way. Although he was holding two posts one is presidentship and Chief of Army staff that is considered as unconstitutional according to Pakistan’s constitution. We had so called democracy that time in Pakistan because our civillan govt hasn’t any authority in decisin making.
