If less than or more than is given like less than 30 or more than 20..that means the given frequency is Cumulative Frequency. .....And if simple class intervals like 20 - 30 are given...then it is the frequency..

There's a specific for that which is:-
- if the word in the question is given less than or more than, it means the given frequency is cumulative frequency. for eg-
less than 30 or more than 30 is given
- and if just simple intervals for example class intervals are given then it is frequency. for eg-
20-30 are given
