how can we separate a mixture of safety pins , sand and chalk powder ?

Safety pins have characteristic magnetic properties. They can be separated by bringing a magnet over the mixture. Then pour the mixture of sand and chalk powder in water and stir. The chalk powder will dissolve in water. Now filter it. The liquid that you will get is the dissolved chalk powder and the small solid particles that remains are the soil particles.
