when incense stick burns , it produces vapours having a characteristics pleasant smell .

1. this smell is detected by olfactory receptor present inside our nose .
2. the action of smell of incense stick on receptor sets off chemical reaction which generate electrical impulses.
3. the sensory neurons carry these electrical impulses to the sensory area of forebrain( cerebrum).
4. this makes us to detect the smell of the burning incense stick.
