The major sources of starch intake worldwide are cereals (rice, wheat, and maize) and root vegetables (potatoes and cassava). We canuse iodine solution to test for thepresence of starch. If starch is present is a food item, it turns blue-black colour when iodine solution is added to it.

Take a paste of food sample.
Pour iodine solution on it.
To prepare iodine solution, take tincture iodine and mix it with a test tube half filled with water.
If a blue-black colour appears, it indicates the presence of starch...... I think it may be help you
