How can you help as an individual to cantrol water pollution ?

As an individual I prevent vehicles for short way for long way I will use LPG or CNG vehicles to control air pollution and to control water pollution .I will refuse the water I will do rainwater harvesting.

avoid despossing wast in water bodies .
sewage treatment before despossing into water bodies.
avoid using fertiliser.
avoid industrial wast into water bodies .
