The ways to increase or decrease the pressure acting on a body are as follows:-
- Changing the magnitude of force- Since pressure is the measure of force acting per unit area on a body, changing the force will change the amount of pressure exerted.
- Changing the area on which force is exerted- If the area of contact is decreased, pressure increases. On the other hand, pressure decreases if the area of contact increases.
