plains of northern India r flat & enormous. it is extended is the east west direction between the Himalayas in the north & peninsular plateau in the south.
these plains form an in broken belt of alluvium varying in thickness from the east Bihar plain to Punjab & northern Rajasthan.
The northern plain spreading from Assam to Punjab, has a length of around 2400km & the width ranges between 150km to 300km, varying in the different region.

it can be found in Bihar, Punjab, Assam, west Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, part of Delhi & haryana.
