we can say this by performing an experiment. If we place a glass container and cover a burning candle, after some time we will see that because of lack of oxygen, the candle turns off. We know that oxygen supports combustion, that is burning in the presence of oxygen. So, as oxygen is present in the air, we can say that air is necessary for burning.

Air is necessary for burning because if there will be no air substance will not be able to burn . Let us consider the case of candle . After glowing it cover it with glass. When the air in class will be finished the candle will also be automatically blow off
