We can say that historians and archaeologists are like detectives because they are always in search of remains of the early people or civilizations .

They know the historical aspects of the particular place they are excavating and they have to dig into far too deep of the surface of the earth to collect the artifacts that are historically important similar to the detective who will have to get to the depths .
