How can you say that people did not have any choice in democratic Mexico

Because we don’t. There is no democracy or choice in a country where elections are rigged. Where people sell their votes out of need. Where a TV duopoly promotes one candidate, two years before the election begins, not as candidate, but as the perfect face of the New PRI, which is the Old PRI, just as corrupt and murderous as before. A man, who takes pride in being responsible for the Acteal massacre. A country where, when the opposition candidate presents abundant, verifiable proof, that the candidate bought votes, the electoral authority says, “Well, yes, it’s true, but there’s no law against it.”
Because in a country, where 43 students disappear, never to be seen again, and the government does a horribly shoddy investigation/cover up, where journalists die for telling the truth or are fired and relentlessly
