1.RTI was enacted in 2005 to give in the hands of we people a powerful weapon.
2.It can check corruption by bringing transparency in the working of the public offices.
3. It also mandates for the queries to be answered aptly, rightly and with in time.
4. Any undue delay in the furnishings of answer is a punishable offence.
5. This is our right of Right to be Informed.
6. We can use this right to seek information which affects us directly or indirectly.
Considering the benefits of RTI we can say that it empowers us to ask for a transparent governance. Example- In 2008, Yogacharya Anandji and Simpreet Singh exposed the infamous Adarsh Housing society scam, that led to the resignation of the then Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan in Maharashtra
