Electricity is the flow of electrons or charged particles called ions. When current is supplied a potential difference is created, the compound into which electricity is supplied gets dissociated into ions. More the ions more the flow of electricity and more the conductance. We say electricity is flow of charge basically electrons and protons. But electrons and protons are also ions in a way.
