It is true that Napoleon destroyed Democracy but he also tried to compensate it with good governance. Napoleonic Code is one of them.
1. Napoleon did away with all privileges based on birth.
2. He secured the right to property.
3. He abolished the feudal system and freed peasants from serfdom and manorial dues. It was a great reform in Peasantry.
4. In the towns guild restrictions were removed.
5. Transport and communication systems were improved.
6. He established euality before law.
7. He standardized weights and measures.
8. He simplified administrative divisions.
