after the revolt of 1857 the Britishers felt that it was it was becoming very difficult to control the country. The East India company which had just came to India for the purpose of trade only started to indulge in the political affairs of the country. No doubt they have to face great resentment from the local rulers. we can see that after the revolt of 1857 the Britishers realise that it is it had become very much important to win the support of the people. So the act of 1858 that is the Government of India Act was passed according to which the Company rule was replaced by the Crown rule that is now the East India company was replaced by the crown of British India.
