How did Akbar manage to secure co-operation of the Rajput rules​

Akbar was an imperialist to the core and wanted to expand his territory in India and for that securing cooperation of Rajputs was absolutely necessary whose chivalry and skills of battle he admired. So, in order to pursue that, he devised a stick and carrot policy towards them.

1. Opposition: He fought with those Rajput rulers who went against him to the point they were forced to accept his sovereignty. For example, ruler of Mewar. He conquered multiple forts e.g. Chittor, Merta, Ranthambhor, etc. in order to weaken Rajput resistance.
2. Matrimony: Those Rajputs who accepted his suzerainty, he went into matrimonial relationships with them to strengthen his bond with them. Moreover, they were given esteemed statuses in the functions of the State and their administration was not disturbed. However, they had to pay an annual tribute to Akbar.

This way he successfully managed to secure friendship and cooperation from Rajputs.
