Asaf Jah showed his loyalty to Mughal emperor by taking part in military actions. He along with father fought several battles for the Mughal.
In just age of 17, he joined his father in a successful strike on the fort of Adoni. This was the moment when he was promoted to the rank of 2000 zat and 500 horse along with precious gifts.
Also, he was the one who captured fort of Wagingera.
Hope this will help.

Answer:
After being the actual ruler of the Deccan, Asaf Jah began to adopt some policies in order to strengthen his position:
He brought skilled soldiers and administrators from northern India who welcomed the new opportunities in the south.
He appointed mansabdars and granted jagirs.
He ruled independently without Mughal interference. The Mughal emperor merely confirmed the decisions already taken by Asaf Jah.
