in ancient times he used to send his trained messengers dhamma and mahattma to convey his message to people . and also through books,  pamphlets , carving on inscriptions and prospectus

  • He followed ahimsa by himself strictly to set an example for his people. He was a practitioner of dharma. Ashoka appointed few officials known as Dharam Mahamatras to spread and explain the messages of dharma to the people.
  • They were well-trained officials by him. Inscriptions were engraved on rocks and pillars the principles of Dharma in common language for the people. He used Prakrit to save his inscriptions. They were written in Brahmi script.
