When the Mauryan government was established it can be said that a new form of government was in fact established in the world.

It is with the establishment of the Mauryan empire that we get to see the triumph of monarchy over the tribal republics in the political system.

At the helm of th epower was the king who created the lawsIt was Kautilya who advised the king to practise dharma which was based on the different stages of life.

The Mauryan Empire reached to the peak of its glory at the time of king Ashoka.

His empire was divided into three parts for better administration.

These three parts are village, district government and provincial government.

The king or any prince was the leader of the provincial government.

On the other hand, the district government was managed by the Pradeshika.

He was appointed by the provincial government.
