Potheri Kunjambu ,a lower caste writer from Kerala ,wrote a novel called "saraswati Vijayam"in 1982 Mounting a strong attack on caste oppression .

This novel tells about a young man from an untouchable caste ,he left his village to escape the quality of his Brahmin landlord.

He converts his religion to Christianity ,obtain modern education and due to his efforts he became a judge in local court.

Saraswati vijayam stresses the importance of education for the upliftment of lower caste.

In 1920 a new kind of novel emerged in Bengal that depicted the misery of peasants and lower caste .
