- Bodhi tree is a fig tree that is loated in Bodh Gaya, BIhar. It is famous because Gautam Buddha attained enlightenment while sitting under this tree.
- After enlightenment he beacme known as the Buddha and the fig tree was called "Bodhi tree".
- In iconography it is reperesented by heart shpaed leaves.
- The Bodhi tree in Anuradhapura and Anandbodhi tree in Sravasti are also considered sacred as they both are believed to have beeen propagated from the original Bodhi tree.
