Many social groups showed a lukewarm response when the civil disobedience movement was re launched in 1932 .

a. Rich peasants were disappointed, as movement was called off in 1931 without any revision of revenue rates.

b. The congress did not support no rent campaign of the poor peasants

c. The capitalist class was apprehensive about spread of socialist ideas and increased agitation that may effect their interests.

d. Fear of alienating industrialists made congress refuse the demands of workers.

e. Women also showed disappointment with the movement. Congress was reluctant to allow women to hold any position
of authority within the organization. It was keen only on their symbolic presence

f. Muslim political groups kept themselves away from the movement.

g. Many Dalits also kept away as they were keen on reservation policy.
