by defeating siraj ud daula in the battle of pallasey and capturing fort william

The British defeated the last standing emperor of india, Siraj Ud Daullah in the battle of plassey in 1775 and took control mostly all over India.They also captured Fort William which was a very important fort during that period in bengal. Thus East India Company began trade in bengal.
