Geography did not help the romans to expand into italy. prior this expansion, geography was a security problem in the first 150 years of the roman republic.

Geography helped the romans to make better maps . Also ,during the renaissance period ,the romans had put good use of ancient Chinese inventions like the mariners compass which also helped them in making good maps. Due to all these all these the romans could conquer Italy.
