how did George and Harris make if mess of things while packing and why​

George and Harris created such a mess by packing heavy things on soft ones. They started it by keeping the jam on the tomatoes and smashing it. Then they had to take them out with a teaspoon. Then they kept butter on the chair and Harris sat on it.
