The behaviour of Griffin changed drastically when he moved to Iping.

He never used to attend church and stayed away from the people. He always kept himself covered irrespective of the weather and mostly took lonely paths.

Owing to his temperament people started forming their own views about him and a lot of rumours started coming up. While many believed that he was an investigator, many feared that he is a criminal in hiding.

Answer:

Explanation:

The people of Iping were superstitious people and were not able to understand the intensity of Griffith's research work. They were mostly scared because of his unique appearance and also curious to see his real face as they have always seen him in bandages or behind hat covering his face.

He mostly went out in evening time when light was low so that people could not see him and disturb him.
