Indians did not develop the desire to be independent in one day. For a long time they were tourched. As power oassed on from the hands of the british east india company to the british administration india transformed from an exporter to an importer. They were forced to buy machine made goods from the british. Peasants were forced to grow indigo .Since majority of the indians were peasants they started riots in some parts.
This desire to be independent was also developed because of some philosophers and other great men. They showed the way to be independent and told people why was it important to be independent.
Thus gradually majority of indians developed the desire to be independent. But still there were some exceptions like follish rich zamindars etc who supported british rule.
