How did Newton show that white colour contain seven colours using two identical glass prisms. Draw a ray diagram to show path of light when two identical glass prisms are arranged together?

Different colours light has different speed and different wavelength. ... Newton allowed passing a thin beam of white light on a prism which gets split into its constituent 7 colours. Then he allowed passing these 7 colours of light through an inverted prism

Answer:

Newton placed two identical glass prisms parallel to each other and passed white ray of light though one. The light split into it's 7 components Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. These rays where then passed through the other prism and it was observed that white light was coming from the other side of the prism. This shows that white light contains seven colours
