The non - cooperation movement took different forms in different places :-

● In towns, students and lawyers left their studies and jobs. Foreign goods were boycotted and liquor shops were picketed. People refused to use foreign goods.

● In countryside, non- cooperation movement was accompanied by the struggles led by the peasants. They fought against the oppressive landlord system.

● In the tribal areas, the movement was aimed at abolishing the forest laws and giving back the tribals their traditional rights. The movement was led by Alluri sitarama raju. They developed a militant guerrilla movement in order to achieve their aim.

The effects of non-cooperation on the economic front were more dramatic. Foreign goods were boycotted, liquor shops picketed, and foreign cloth burnt in huge bonfires. The import of foreign cloth halved between 1921 and 1922, its value dropping from Rs 102 crore to Rs 57 crore.
