Zimbabwe attained independence from white minority rule in 1980 . since then the country has been ruled by the ZANU-PF. The country has been ruled by the president Mugabe since independence.-:
1. Over the many years his government has changed the constitution several times in order to increase the powers of the president.
2. Opposition party workers were harassed and their party meetings were disrupted.
3. media and television are controlled by the government and gives only the ruling party's view.
4. there are some independent courts and agencies but government harasses those journalists who goes against it.
