In the early fifteenth century, European states embarked on a series of global explorations that began a new chapter in world history. The European Age of exploration also known as the Age of Discovery developed along with the Renaissance which was a transitional moment for both periods. Competition between various countries of Europe for profit and influence led to the evolution and advancement of overseas exploration. Advancement in shipbuilding enabled travelling over longer distances. With scientific knowledge gain, larger, more robust and sturdy ships were built to withstand adverse conditions in sea over long journeys. This was also supported by advances in navigational techniques like better maps, Compass, improvement in seafaring knowledge from others.
