a.Recognition of tamil as an official language.
b.More regional autonomy.
c.Equality of opportunity in securing education and jobs.
d.More autonomy to provinces populated by Tamils.
They then formed several political organizations demanding and Independent Tamil Eelam in the northern and eastern parts of Sri Lanka.

sri lankan tamils were not at all happy with the decision taken by the sinhalese as it only favoured sinhala community and not any other. as a result they were forced to change their religion

sri lankan tamils launched parties and struggles for their recognition of tamil as the official laguage for regional autonomy, securing jobs etc

by 1980 several political organisation was formed demanding an independent tamil eelam(state) in northern and eastern part of country

it soon turned into civil war which destroyed every thing in sri lanka
