SUBSIDIARY ALLIANCE-
This policy was introduced by the Britishers .In this policy the Britishers had provided protection to the Indian rulers and the Indian rulers either pay for it or had to maintain a British army.If the ruler is unable to pay for it the area will come under the Britishers .

DOCTRINE OF LAPSE-
It was a policy introduced by the Britishers .In this policy the kings can not introduce their adopted heir only natural heirs are allowed .After the demise of the king the the area will come under the British rule.

In both the policies anyhow the particular area where the king was ruling will come under the British and they will easily extend their control in India
