As Sudha's grandmother was old and uneducated, she had to seek her daughter's hand for reciting the novel weekly to her. So Sudha decided to teach her grandmother to read and write English by her own as Sudha was unable recite her the story for a week because she went to her cousin's marriage. By keeping such situations in mind, grandmother also got determined to learn English. By this way, Sudha Murty helped her distressed grandmother.
