Bruno of was Author's Wife's Pet sloth bear.Two years ago the author and some of his fellows were passing through the sugarcane fields.People were driving away the wild pigs from the fields by shooting at them.

Accidentally, Bruno's mother got hit and died and so the Author took back Bruno home.

The author of the story 'The Bond of Love', once went passing through the sugarcane fields near Mysore along with his companions. Suddenly, a Black sloth bear, came out panting in the hot sun. Unfortunately, one of his companions had shot the sloth bear, which was something the author would not do. As they watched the animal fall, they spotted a small black furred baby bear, that was riding on its mother, and when the shot had killed her, the baby bear ran around it's mother's prostrate body. The author and his companions made a run to capture it, they did so after a few tries and kept it in his gunny bag. He took it all along with him to Banglore, and when he reached Banglore, he presented the bear to his wife, who was delighted and he was then named Bruno.
