The Brambles had decided that they will hide the truth of Mr Bramble's profession from Harold, their son. They believed that Harold would not like his father to be a boxer and might be embarrassed about it. Harold was a very intelligent boy who did not get involved in any activities other than his studies. But in fact, Harold was a well informed boy who knew about the latest matches of boxing. When he came to know about his father's profession, he was not at all embarrassed about it. In fact he was angry that he was not informed earlier about this. He had been betting his money on the matches and discussing all these things with his friends. The sacrifice made by his parents was in vain and all these years they had been unnecessarily worried about him. Harold had taken the situation in his stride and was comfortable about it.
