#Initially, the British didn't interfere with Indian laws based on customs and traditions.

#They decided that Indian laws would be applied to Indians and British laws would only apply to Europeans.

#But this created a lot of confusion.

#Acc. to the Bengal Regulation of 1793,some Indian Traditions were written down in the form of laws.

#This made administration easier to enforce.

#Warren Hastings and Lord Cornwallis gave a proper shape to the judicial system by setting up civil courts. However the Indians and Europeans continued to be heard in separate courts.

Hope it Helps.
