Both the children were very courageous during the time of distress. They were optimistic and that instilled the same feelings in the author and his wife. Even though Suzanne got severely injured, she did not bother her father about it and wanted him to work for survival. Jonathan was really hopeful and wasn't even afraid to die if he was with his family. Both the children held their horses and kept their cool which really was a great act of love and bravery.
