Hey Mate

Different social groups conceived the idea of
Non-Cooperation in their own way.

(i) The movement started with middle-class
participation in the cities. Thousands of students
left government-controlled schools and colleges,
headmasters and teachers resigned, and lawyers
gave up their legal practices.

(ii) Peasants participated in movement as they
were against talukdars and landlords who
demanded from peasants exorbitantly high rents
and variety of other cesses.

(iii) Plantation workers participated in the
movements with the hope that they would get
the right to move freely in and out of the confined
space in which they were enclosed.

(iv) The tribals in Andhra Pradesh joined the
movement against oppressive British policies
that prevented people from entering the forest to
graze their cattle
